And just like that, we’re celebrating our second year since opening in the Gateway Building in Circular Quay. This is our third restaurant after Mosman in 2013, followed by Randwick in 2014. We are incredibly blessed to have an amazing team working with us, and new and loyal customers coming to our crêperies to enjoy our authentic French crêpes.
Being in the heart of Circular Quay, the atmosphere in the crêperie is a vibrant but warming one.
“Our aim was to create a modern, fresh and fun interior that had a French flavour without being overly traditional. The red and white counter tiles were a bespoke item that was specifically created for Four Frogs. The open metal framing to the shopfront was designed to provide definition to the store footprint without completely blocking the atmosphere from the surrounding mall. Black and white wallpaper graphics, white recycled bricks and plants were implemented to add warmth & character. – Alex Morris, Director of Morris Co Design who led the design and inspiration for the crêperie.
Laurent Giannesini, one of our four directors, reminisces the day before the opening.
“The thing I remember the most was the crazy amount of work all night long so we could open on time as Channel 9 was coming at 11:00am on Opening day. None of us got much sleep at all that night as we were completing the fit-out and organising the shop; at about 9:30am we started serving coffees for workers and staff to test our brand new coffee machine. Then the water pipe under the coffee machine decided to explode and water started flowing out of the cupboard underneath the machine, spreading out everywhere on the kitchen floor… Needless to say, there was a fair amount of frantic panic as we were supposed to serve customers in front of TV cameras only 1 hour later!”
